Some of my much-loved places to frequent  -
Baker D. Chirico
Shop 3-4, 149 Fitzroy St, St Kilda
My mums favourite bakery, she told me about this place and drives from Geelong to get bread here. Review: http://yourrestaurants.com.au/guide/baker_d_chirico/

Il Fornaio
2 Acland St, St Kilda, 03 9534 2922
Yummy, great food, and coffee. Next door to the Prince, and AESOP (my favourite skincare place). Review: http://www.theage.com.au/entertainment/restaurants-and-bars/il-fornaio-20100712-10644.html

Las Chicas
203 Carlisle St, Balaclava, 03 9531 3699
This area is very funky, arty, and bohemian.  Best breakfast, have to line up sometimes though, beware.  This strip is full of old and new, like trash and treasure.  There is cute coffee place across road called THE HOLE IN THE WALL, love it on sunny day.  Breakfast at La Chicas is awesome.  This area is old Russian area, and a little forgotten but not as pretentious as St Kilda, love it.  Catch a train (used to be called Balaclava, then after the show SECRET LIFE OF US, they changed name to EAST ST KILDA, go figure). Pelican Bar
16 Fitzroy St, St Kilda, 03 9525 5847
Great coffee, great for breakfasts, St Kilda is only like 20 min tram ride from city.  Love this with paper on weekends.  Review: http://yourrestaurants.com.au/guide/pelican/

Misuzu’s
7 Victoria Avenue, Albert Park, 03 9699 9022
Japanese, gorgeous and yummy, all dishes mainly cooked (as opposed to raw, which i am not a fan of, however they also have these raw dishes for those who do).  Great atmosphere, outside trees with fairy lighting, lovely for dinner, can catch tram #1 from Flinders Street in city.  Review: http://yourrestaurants.com.au/guide/misuzus/
Rex Hunts Fish and Chips
3/105 Beach Street, Port Melbourne, 03 9646 0660
Overpriced fish and chips, but if you like fishing might be fun to pop along for dinner on beach.  Otherwise is great fish and chip shop in Victoria Ave, Albert Park up the road…
